Alyssa Ashenfarb, LCSW

Hi, I’m Alyssa. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a virtual private practice in Manhattan.

My passion lies in working with adults who are anxious, struggling with relationships, and/or feeling self-doubt. While these feelings are a central part of the human experience, they don’t have to feel so profound, lonely, or painful.

I love to work with adults who are curious about life and about their sense of self. The commitment to understanding yourself on a deeper level is a process that can be immensely rewarding and fulfilling, especially with a therapist you feel connected to.

As someone who knows what it is like to sit in the therapy chair, I can empathize. I know trust takes a while to build. My commitment to you is to be patient, empathetic, and genuine in all my interactions.

I am eclectic in my approach, though I focus primarily on psychodynamic and relational techniques. I am also trained in mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches and use these when helpful. Each technique is used intentionally to help you understand why you’re feeling the way you are, and to help you gain control over these feelings. I balance humor, lightness, and depth in each session, and I always keep you and your needs at the forefront of my mind.

My goal is to help my clients feel in control of themselves, their decisions, and their lives. You deserve more than to just “cope” with each day. You deserve to feel fulfilled and connected with those around you. Life can be better.
